Crotone forward Augustus Kargbo has rejoined Leone Stars for the Nations Cup less than two weeks after he initially failed to make the team’s 28-man squad for the tournament.

The 22-year-old was recalled to the squad by head coach John Keister to replace the injured Alhassan Koroma on Saturday.

Kargbo who was disappointed when he was initially dropped is now is now excited to be back.

“I’m very excited and determined for getting the opportunity to defend my country at the Nations Cup,” Kargbo said on arrival at the team’s hotel in Douala from italy on Sunday.

He added: “I’m very sorry for my brother Alhassan Koroma and I wish him speedy recovery.”

Kargbo is expected to have his first training session with the team on Monday in Douala ahead of their opening match against Algeria on Tuesday.

He made his international debut when Leone Stars took part in an Africa Cup of Nations warm-up tournament in Morocco in October last year.
