Leone Stars players have received extra bonus for holding Ivory Coast to a draw in their second group E match at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.

Each of the 28 Leone Stars registered players for the tournament has been given US$ 1,000 by their team manager and philanthropist Babadi Kamara.

The cash gift is aimed at continuing to motivate the players to continue to do well in the 24 teams tournament.

“I can confirm that the players have received the money,” Kamara, who is also the executive chairman of Bo Rangers FC told Sierra Leone Football.com.

Also the acting managing director of the Sierra Leone commercial bank Bockarie Kalokoh has revealed that one of their clients Sierra Fisheries company will give each Leone Stars player the same amount for their draw with defending champions Algeria in their opening match.

The newly appointed deputy minister of finance, subject to parliamentary approval, told Sierra Leone Football.com in Douala that he would arrange for the players to receive the cash as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, each of the players have so far received from the government of Sierra Leone through the national sports authority a total of $10,000 each as match appearance fee for the two games, and an extra bonus of $3,000 each for getting two draws.

Leone Stars’ next game is against Equatorial Guinea in Limbe on Thursday and the players are at least guaranteed to receive their match appearance fee of $5,000 each.

There’ll be a winning bonus of $4,500 for each player, and $1,500 each for a draw.
