By Mohamed Fajah Barrie in Freetown

Former Celtic foward Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura is hoping to win the 2015 Sierra Leone Football.com player of the year award as voting is ongoing.

The 26-year old currently based in China is among five players nominated for the prestigious award by selected Sierra Leonean sports journalists.

“It’s not a suprise that I’ve been nominated for the best player award because I have been doing a good job,” Bangura told Sierra Leone Football.com.

“I feel good and happy that I have been nominated.”

“I want to thank the sports journalists for nominating me and I know I derserve to be in the shortlist.”

“I call on the voters not to vote for players on sentimental basis. I also call on people to vote for me because they believe thay I have done well.

“I know the contest is very tight because the other four nominees have also done well.

But I’m hoping to win the award for the first time.”

The other nominees are USA based Kei Ansu Kamara, Alhaji ‘Andriano’ Kamara playing in Sweden, Scotland based Mustapha Dumbuya and Umaru ‘Zingalay’ Bangura who is playing in Belarus.

Viewers of the Sierra Leone Football.com website have started voting and the voting will end on January 31.
