Bottom of the table team Police FC have produced the first upset of the second phase of the Sierra Leone premier league after defeating leaders Bo Rangers 1-0 at the Siaka Stevens stadium in Freetown on Saturday.

Lansana Turay accounted for the goal in the 13th minute when he picked up a ball and struck it to an empty net after the Bo Rangers goalkeeper Ibrahim Sesay failed to make an easy catch in the box.

Sesay who was making his Bo Rangers debut got injured and had to be substituted before the re-start of the match after the goal.

The two teams created scoring chances afterwards but failed to score.

Bo Rangers played with a full strength squad including their new signings Yeami Dunya and Saidu Mansaray known Malian.

The league’s leading goal scorer Musa Noah Kamara alias Musa Tombo fresh from Africa Cup of Nations duties with Leone Stars led the striking force for Bo Rangers.

The loss means that Bo Rangers’ lead has been reduced to just a point ahead of second place East End Lions, while Police remain bottom of the log despite their victory.

Mohamed S. Kanu’s goal was enough to give hosts Bai Bureh Warriors of Port Loko a 1-0 win over RSLAF in Saturday’s other match to move out of the relegation zone, but with more games played.
