Senegal coach Aliou Cisse insists is not afraid of facing hosts Cameroon in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Olembe stadium in Yaounde on Sunday.

The Teranga Lions will face either Cameroon or Egypt.

Cameroon defeated Senegal twenty years ago to win the Afcon in Mali when Cisse was captain of the Teranga Lions.

“Personally I have nothing against Cameroon for defeating us in the final when I was captain,” Cisse said in response to Sierra Leone Football.com’s question in the post-match press conference.

“I’ve never been afraid of facing Cameroon again or coming to Cameroon.”

“Whether it’s Cameroon or Egypt we’ll be prepared for a tough fight.

“We shouldn’t think that Egypt are easier, either of the teams are tough and it’s going to be a difficult match.”

Senegal have waited for decades to be crowned the African champions for the first time.

They came close to winning the Afcon twice in 2002 in Mali losing on penalties and 2019 losing to Algeria 1-0.

Cisse is hoping to end the long wait saying that: “I’ll like to bring to my country what we’ve been chasing for so long.”

“We are here to fight to win the trophy.”
