The Gambia’s superiority over Sierra Leone in continental youth competition continues as Darling Scorpions have eliminated Shooting Stars from the qualifiers of U-20 African Cup of Nations for the second time in six years.
Shooting Stars lost the 2017 qualifiers first round return leg 2-0 in Banjul on Saturday to go out 4-0 on aggregate having lost the first leg at home three weeks ago.
The Darling Scorpions were impressive and largely dominated the game.
It came as no suprise when Pa Omar Babou gave the Darling Scorpions the lead in the 32nd minute before Pa Omar Jobe got the second goal in the 63rd minute.
Darling Scorpions have now advanced to the second round stage of the qualifiers and will now face Morocco. The finals will be held in Zambia.
Shooting Stars Coach Charlie Wright beefed up his squad with seven new players for the return leg but didn’t yield dividend.
Darling Scorpions had knocked out Shooting Stars from the qualifiers of 2011 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
