Sierra Leone Eye Third place Trophy

With a win against Ghana on Tuesday and a day to go in the contest, the Ladies Patriots are nursing hope to grab the third place trophy in the ongoing Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament in Lagos.

On Wednesday, the Ladies lost to Rwanda by nine wickets, having won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 71 runs, losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Batting, Sierra Leone’s Zainab Kamara scored 12 runs not out while comrade Mabinty Sankoh went for 11.

Rwanda replied with 72 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 12 overs. They stole the day by 9 wickets with the Woman of the Match award going to Gisell of Rwanda who scored 41 runs.

Sierra Leone will face Gambia in their last match on Saturday at the TBS Cricket Oval in the morning.

The Ladies need a win against Gambia to reach for the third place trophy.

Gambia are yet to win any match in the Tournament.

In the afternoon of Saturday, host Nigeria will engage Rwanda in the battle for supremacy. Both sides have won two matches.

On Thursday, all teams will rest for a continuity on Friday, a day when Nigeria will face Ghana who lost to Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

In the afternoon of Friday, Rwanda will face Gambia.

The tournament will end on Sunday after the third place match in the morning hours and the final match in the afternoon hours. The visiting teams will depart Nigeria on Monday.
