2019 All African games quarter-finalist Zainab Keita, 26, gave Sierra Leone its first gold medal at the Zone II West African sub-regional boxing championships in Freetown on Wednesday after defeating Senegal’s Ndeye Seynabou Ndiaye in the final of the 70 Kg category.

So far, Sierra Leone has won a total of seven medals (1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze), and is chasing three more gold medals on Thursday in different categories on the final day of competition at the Bintumani international conference centre.

Among the Sierra Leonean boxers in the ring tonight is the 27-year-old Canada based female boxer Sara Haguighat who will fight Dieynaba Diallo of Senegal in the 54-60kg.
