Leone Stars line-up vs Algeria in their opening Group E Afcon match

Leone Stars players, officials and fans have arrived home safely from the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

They departed Douala on Saturday night with a chartered Air Maroc flight after they exited the tournament at the group stage.

Leone Stars failed to win a match as they secured draws with both Algeria and Ivory Coast and lost to Equatorial Guinea in group E.

The contingent which was over 280 including 22 players landed at the lungi international airport at around 22:10 GMT after a 3 hours and 20 minutes smooth flight.

The foreign players will travel to their respective countries where they are playing professional football from Sierra Leone.

Six other foreign players including Steven Caulker had left Douala to rejoin their respective clubs a night before.
